Hate in Orange County. Talk about terrible stigmas attached to the Muslim community.
This makes me have confidence in the fact that despite us being a democratic nation, we still have MANY strides to overcome. Have the times really changed?

I don’t comment or post things many things on tumblr these days, but this is horrible. It’s crazy to think about how much blatant ignorance and hate still exists in our communities. Are we really that much different from people who may be of a different color or of a different culture? I think for the most part that sometimes we get jaded by the fact that we don’t see demonstrations like this every day. We don’t see these sorts of things because sometimes we just turn a blind eye, or choose not to believe that it can happen here. And once that happens, the issue is swept under the rug. We only focus on things that are put right before our eyes. Right now, this video is before your eyes. You see the vulgarity of the crowd (who probably did not even understand the purpose of the Muslim hosted event), you see the scared looks on the children’s faces, and you see just how much growing up people-and our society-still need to do. Continue to educate yourselves, and remember that just because we live in this country, it doesn’t necessarily mean that individually we’re always better or worse than someone else. We’re all different. We’re individuals, that’s what makes you unique from the person that may be standing next to you. So what’s the sense of trying to compare two obviously different things and classify one person as superior to another?
Rant over. I guess it’s just the BRIDGE in me coming out. Thanks for the heads up Liz.
